100MPH Speedometer

Post by 88T-FL » Tue Aug 19, 2003 2:58 am

I have seen several references on the site concerning a 100MPH speedometer for the LeSabre. I looked through the Buick H Body Parts/Illustration catalog and find nothing on a gauge cluster w/100MPH speedo head. There were a lot of cluster models – the “standard” unit, digital, gauges and different ones of each of those for blue/green, red, US, Canada, export, shift indicator (for column shifter cars) and such, but nothing for a 100MPH head. Anyone have or ever seen one, know the option code?

Thanks – Peter :mtt:

Just to settle this as I have owned one of every year ('87 :mtt: -'88 :btt2: -'89 :mtt: )

Only the '89 came with the 100 MPH Speedo. I wanted one for a while, and purchased one out of an '89 :stt: in New Jersey, THEN, I bought MY '89 parts car, and aquired one from that car as well.

'87's were unique because they were the only year that came with the GN colored interior.

While '88's were unique, because they were the only ones that offered plastic fenders.

Also, I noticed most '87's came with "C"- pillar maplights. Where my '88 and '89 didn't.

Interesting. Must be part of an option package, unless it's standard for the moonroof package (mine had the moonroof)

I like my 85mph speedo for two reasons:

1. I have snow/rain rubber its H rated IIRC, when the speedo hits 85 I know I'm exceeding the speed rating on my tires.

2. Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?
Me: No sir, I honestly don't know how fast I was going.
Buick Park Aveneue, Type R, Type S, SiR, GTR, with nitrous(stickers). Yes, its a joke. No, it looks like hell but it runs great. I race it in SCCA road rallys and do quite well.
