I'd use Tremclad for a paint type, my friend used it on his track bike, came out really even and no marks show or stay when you touch it, wash it, rub it alot(chest/thighs against it) very durable.

I believe they were actually heat wraped with some sort of material that isnt avaiable anymore. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But if you want to try and match it, it'd be flat black.

Oh yea which reminds me, i have to do, even though the old one is chromed out(coming from a PA) it still has the cruise controls The 87 T column i put in doesnt. Definatly going to have to install that sometime. Are they hard to remove?
